Frequently
asked question

Alberta faces a future of decreasing fossil fuel consumption at the global scale, leading to a more balanced mix of energy sources. To meet the related challenges head on, we need to capitalize on energy innovations and advances in the oil and gas sectors while stimulating the growth of alternative energy technologies that will help Canada meet its climate change targets and support the transition to a diversified energy economy. Alberta can continue to be a leader in energy production and innovation while helping reduce GHG emissions worldwide.

By creating a venue for shared learning experiences, the Energy Innovation Fair aims to showcase innovations that benefit people, protect the environment, and help diversify Alberta’s energy economy. Together, we can build on Alberta’s strengths in traditional industries and help connect people so they can create new opportunities in emerging technology areas.

Innovation, for its part, can refer to something new or to a change made to an existing product, idea, or field. One might say that the first telephone was an invention, the first cellular telephone either an invention or an innovation, and the first smartphone an innovation.

The Energy Innovation Fair is located at Red Deer Polytechnic’s Cenovus Learning Common on the east end of the campus. It’s the same building as the Donald School of Business (external signage on the building).  Red Deer Polytechnic can be access from the QE2 highway from 32nd St, and from Red Deer via Taylor Drive or Gaetz Avenue via 32nd St.
